As a compact car, the 2019 Honda Civic features a line of powerful engines and high-quality interior materials that make it a smart choice. Available in five trims (LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring), the Honda Civic comes in three body styles: coupe, sedan, and hatchback. Keep reading to learn about specific features that make this vehicle stand out above all others in its class.

Additional Sport Trim

Honda added a Sport trim for the 2019 Civic and positioned it between the LX and EX trims. Previously only available in a hatchback style, the Sport is now offered as a sedan and coupe. This trim includes alloy wheels, cloth and leather-like upholsteries, a remote start feature, and paddle shifters. You also enjoy a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

To give you an energetic and fun ride, the Sport trim features upsized 18-inch wheels and exclusive shock absorbers. Externally, it exudes black and chrome accents, and the spoiler on the sedan style adds a touch of flare. When it comes to infotainment, this trim includes an eight-speaker audio system as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

New Standard Safety Features

For the 2019 model year, the Honda Civic now comes standard with a suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies through the Honda Sensing package. Thanks to these safety features, the Civic has earned a five-star overall crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). A collision mitigation braking system automatically applies brake pressure if it determines that you might collide into an object in front of the vehicle.

Similarly, road departure mitigation determines if you cross over lanes without signaling and returns you to your lane via steering and braking assistance. Adaptive cruise control maintains a specific interval behind a detected vehicle on the highway, while the lane keeping assist system keeps the sedan in the center of the lane.

Powerful Engine Options

Although the 2019 Honda Civic comes standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 158 horsepower, there’s a more powerful option. The turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine is available on the sedan and coupe styles and comes with a continuously variable transmission and delivers 174 horsepower. This engine option provides an improved driving experience and a significant boost in fuel economy.

Safer Technology System

Available on all trims except the base LX, the HondaLink infotainment system features a revamped 7-inch touch-screen display compared to the base trim’s 5-inch infotainment screen. Honda eliminated the touch-sensitive slider control for the audio volume and replaced it with a conventional knob. The touch control was potentially distracting while driving. In addition, its texting function reduces distractions as it converts verbal commands to texts.

Now in its 10th generation, the 2019 Honda Civic offers several key systems and features that make it a quality option.
