The San Antonio River Walk

Whether you live San Antonio or are just visiting, it’s well worth your time to explore the city’s unique neighborhoods. Let’s take a look at some of these neighborhoods and what they have to offer.

Downtown

At the heart of downtown San Antonio is the epicenter of San Antonio’s history and culture. On Alamo Plaza, you’ll find the famous Alamo, a Spanish colonial mission that has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After you’ve explored this historical treasure, hop aboard a barge and cruise down the San Antonio River. It’s the perfect way to view the city’s natural and architectural wonders. Stop by Market Square to find the perfect souvenir to memorialize your day. Cap it all off with dinner at one of the neighborhood’s many restaurants, such as Biga on the Banks or Las Canarias.

Northwest

The northwest side of San Antonio is home to such popular attractions as Sea World and Aquatica. After you’ve enjoyed a visit with the sea lions, seals, and dolphins, show off your bowling and arcade skills at the Main Event Entertainment center. For a more relaxing experience, take a ride down the lazy river located at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort. If all of this recreation makes you work up an appetite, grab a classic hamburger at Bobby J’s. Then dance the night away at the John T. Floore Country Store.

North Central

If you’re looking for adventure, you’ll find it in San Antonio’s North Central neighborhood, home of the Six Flags Fiesta Texas amusement park. Other exhilarating activities include free falling at the iFly indoor skydiving center and go-kart racing at Andretti’s Indoor Karting & Games. After you’ve shown off your competitive side, you’ll want to cool off at one of the five swimming pools located at the La Cantera Resort & Spa. Indulge in modern Texas cuisine at Sustenio Restaurant and Bar and treat yourself to some luxury goods from The Shops at La Cantera.

Pearl / Broadway Cultural Corridor

Art and history lovers will surely enjoy a stroll down the Pearl and Broadway Cultural Corridor. The neighborhood is home to the San Antonio Art Museum, an institution famous for its collection of ancient Mediterranean, Asian, and Latin American art. At the Witte Museum, you’ll find exhibits featuring dinosaurs, Texas wildlife, and the People of the Pecos. At the San Antonio Botanical Garden, you can explore the Lucile Hasell Conservatory, East Texas Lake, and Texas Native Trail. After a day spent in exploration and learning, reward yourself with a delicious sandwich and craft beer from The Luxury.

Northeast

If you love the outdoors, the Northeast neighborhood is a must-visit. The area’s McAllister Park features 15 miles of hiking trails, while Morgan’s Wonderland offers an 8-acre lake perfect for a fun day of fishing. For a genuine taste of Hill Country, grab a bite to eat at Big Bib BBQ.

These are just some of the awesome neighborhoods in San Antonio. No matter which one you visit, you’re sure to have a great time.
