This premier event started as a one-day parade to honor those who fought at the Alamo and has grown into an exciting multi-day festival. Let’s talk about some of the Fiesta’s fun activities.

Themed Parties

There are several themed parties throughout Fiesta San Antonio that feature something for everyone. Fiesta San Antonio kicks off with the Fiesta Fiesta at Hemisfair. At Fiesta Fiesta you can enjoy live music on the main stage, relax with family and friends, buy locally made arts and crafts, and enjoy local cuisine. The evening provides the opportunity for all of San Antonio to come together and experience what the Fiesta is all about.

The Senior Fiesta is the only Fiesta event especially for San Antonio citizens age 55 and older. Attendees can learn about topics like senior wellness, senior community engagement, and leisure activities while entering into drawings for door prizes. Entertainment includes live music, dancing, and special guest appearances.

Put on your mask and your most festive outfit for the chance to win a $100 cash prize for best costume at the Fiesta Masquerade Party. Dance the night away to live Zydeco, Jazz, and salsa bands. There’s also delicious food and drink and chances to win door prizes.

Culinary Events

Fiesta San Antonio wouldn’t be complete without great food and drinks. The Taste of the Republic event features talented local chefs preparing dishes that represent the six regional flavors of Texas. Each dish is paired with beer and wine. The event also includes music and entertainment from local favorite DJ Donni and concludes with an exciting fireworks display.

At the Fiesta Oyster Bake, you can enjoy baked, fried, or raw oysters, as well as other food items and drinks from more than 70 vendors. While you eat and drink, enjoy live rock, country, and Tejano music. There’s also a carnival with rides and games. Proceeds from the Oyster Bake go to the St. Mary’s University scholarship fund.

Sporting Events

Sports play a big part in Fiesta San Antonio. Southwest Olympic Fiesta is a track and field event for special needs students. In addition to the various competitions, there are also food vendors and carnival games. It’s a great chance for families with special needs children to enjoy the Fiesta in an accepting environment.

The Fiesta Kings Cup, presented by the San Antonio Polo Club, features polo players from across Texas competing on Team King Antonio and Team El Rey Feo. Attendees can enjoy the match from the general admission area or a special VIP viewing area. In addition to viewing the exciting match, you can also compete in the fancy hat contest and bid on items in a silent auction.
