Which Alternative Fuel Honda Fits Your Lifestyle?

Honda has been one of the top-selling, most reliable automakers in the country and beyond for decades. Both the Accord and the Civic place in the top five in sales year after year, while other models garner acclaim from both critics and consumers alike. However, Honda's proactive approach to development always lends itself to new ideas and models. Enter alternative fuel vehicles. Using hybrid or all-electric engine components, the latest crop of alternative fuel vehicles offers not only stellar efficiency, but all the extras you crave. Accord Hybrid The Honda Accord Hybrid has been around in one form or another since 2005, although the engine, battery, and body have all undergone extensive changes. In 2018, the Accord Hybrid gets yet another transformation. This year marks the debut of the 10th generation Accord, and with it comes an all-new hybrid. more If you've loved the Accord of recent years, you're sure to fall for the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid. It's powered by an ultra-efficient, 2.0-liter, Atkinson-cycle four cylinder engine that pairs with a 1.3-kWh lithium battery to produce an impressive 212 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque. That puts out more pop than the 1.5-liter turbo engine offered on the gas-powered version. With this tour-de-force at the helm, the Accord puts out a surprising 0-60 time of just 7.1 seconds. While the power is a nice bonus for a hybrid, let's get to the point. The real reason you're considering the Accord Hybrid is for its fuel economy. This car won't disappoint. Paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), this beast gets excellent mileage, putting it in the upper strata of the segment. Insight If you always have to be the first of your friends to have a new gadget or doohickey, set your sights on the 2019 Honda Insight. Part of the Honda family for 15 years, dwindling sales led to the Insight's demise in 2014. After four years of retooling, it's back and better than ever. Scheduled for release in early or midsummer 2018, this brand-new hybrid has all the makings of a Honda classic. Using a 1.5-liter, Atkinson-cycle four cylinder engine that pairs with two AC motors, the Insight is capable of 151 horsepower and 197 pound-feet of torque. What makes it even more remarkable is the fuel economy. Honda says the Insight's fuel efficiency will be the best in its fleet, while also rivaling some of the other big names in the segment. With that much efficiency in the concrete jungle, the Insight is ideal for commuters and suburbanites to boot. Clarity Plug-In When you enjoy the idea of a electric vehicle, but you find one impractical for your area, take a look at the 2018 Clarity Plug-In. Featuring a range of 47 miles on a full charge, the Clarity Plug-In can carry you further on just electricity than most of the other brands in the game. This is a superb feature if you don't have any charging stations near you. When you run out of juice, the gas-powered engine kicks in to take you to your destination. Whether you want a proven winner, a rookie, or a wild card, Honda has the alternative fuel vehicle that will get you where you need to go with style, class, and less fuel. *Any MPG listed is based on model year EPA mileage ratings. Use for comparison purposes only. Your actual mileage will vary, depending on how you drive and maintain your vehicle, driving conditions, battery pack age/condition (hybrid only) and other factors. 4 Features that Set the Honda Accord Apart From Other Sedans

The Honda Accord has been one of the top-rated, most-trusted, and reliable vehicles on American roads for the past four decades. During that time, it's undergone many changes, transforming from a tiny, Japanese compact car to the envy of other midsize sedans on the market. However, 2018 is a huge year for the iconic vehicle. This year debuts the 10th-generation model of the Accord. With a total rehash of its interior and exterior, the Honda Accord looks better than ever. Here are just a handful of the features that make the Accord a cut above the rest in 2018. Two Great Engine Options The 2018 Honda Accord is an expert at balancing power with efficiency, but what makes it better is that you can decide which way to put your emphasis. The standard engine is a robust, 2.0-liter turbo-four that supplies a remarkable 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. These terrific power numbers make the Accord one of the most powerful in the class, yet the sedan doesn't skimp on efficiency, providing numbers comparable with the best in the segment. more The available 192-horsepower, 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine doles out a top speed of 121 mph and a 0-60 of 7.3 seconds. While it still offers a good amount of power, it outperforms other midsize sedans in efficiency, making it an excellent choice if you want to save money on road trips or commutes. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto If the thought of not having your phone for five minutes sends you into a frenzied panic, you'll love that the 2018 Accord offers both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Developed by both Apple and Google, these mobile apps mirror the features of the iOS and Android operating system, displaying your favorite podcasts, apps, and more on the Accord's head unit. Once the app is installed on your phone, just connect the phone to the head unit for entertainment, hands-free communication, and more. That's something several of the Accord's competitors just don't offer. Cargo and Passenger Capacity Whether you're a bachelor or a parent, the Accord is more than up to the challenge of handling your cargo and passengers. The rear of the car extends further than many of the other midsize sedans, offering a best-in-class 16.7 cubic feet of space. There's also room for up to five passengers to sit comfortably, courtesy of 105.6 cubic feet of passenger room. Standard Driver-Assist Safety Features The 2018 Honda Accord earns a perfect, five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration thanks to a number of driver-assist safety features. The difference is you won't pay extra to get them. Forward collision warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control all come standard, complementing Honda's proven track record of exemplary active and passive safety specs. Few cars maintain a freshness and appeal that keeps them on the production line for over 40 years, but the Accord is not your average vehicle. As good as the 2018 model looks, you can make a solid bet that it might stick around for 40 years more. Honda Accord Image by Corvair Owner is licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0
