2026 vs. 2027 Honda Civic: What Changed and Which One Should You Buy?
The 2027 Honda Civic is a light update, not a redesign. Here's what changed, what stayed the same, and how to choose between the 2026 and 2027 Civic models on our lot at Gunn Honda in San Antonio.
- New for 2027: a Sport-L trim with leather and heated seats, plus S+ Shift on the Sport Touring Hybrid.
- Same as 2026: engines, styling, hybrid system and standard Honda Sensing safety.
- Price: 2027 starting prices are slightly higher. If the 2026 you want is in stock, you're getting nearly the same Civic.
What's New for the 2027 Honda Civic
Honda kept the 2027 changes focused. There are three things to know.
New trim
Sport-L
Sits between the Sport and Sport Hybrid on both the sedan and hatchback. It keeps the gas engine and adds comfort features that used to require a hybrid:
- Leather upholstery
- Heated front seats and a power-adjustable driver's seat
- Dual-zone automatic climate control
- Illuminated vanity mirrors and silver interior trim
New feature
S+ Shift
Added to the Sport Touring Hybrid, borrowed from the Honda Prelude. It simulates gear changes, adds rev-matched downshift sounds and holds gears longer on a winding road. Hybrid output is unchanged at 200 total system horsepower.
Pricing
Slightly higher
2027 starting prices are a bit higher than 2026. For current pricing on both model years, browse our Civic inventory or check new Honda specials.
What Stays the Same From 2026 to 2027
- Same exterior and interior design on the sedan and hatchback
- Same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a CVT on gas trims
- Same two-motor hybrid system with 200 total system horsepower
- Honda Sensing standard on every trim, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Sedan and hatchback body styles, each offered as gas or hybrid
Bottom line: a 2026 Civic gives up nothing in safety or powertrain compared with a 2027 in the same trim.
